Environmental commitment and social responsibility
For several years now, we have prioritised our commitment to the environment and social responsibility. We see the need to minimise the impact of our activities on the planet as being self-evident. As an ethical, environmentally friendly and socially responsible company, we believe it is vital to involve our employees and guests in our efforts to protect our environment’s long-term future.
To further strengthen our commitment, Hotel de Guise has embarked on a certification process with Green Key. This label is awarded to tourist accommodation and restaurants which voluntarily opt for an effective and dynamic environmental approach. Every year, an independent panel of tourism and environmental experts awards the label, which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to sustainability.
Our approach and values
Our family-run hotel puts people at the heart of our performance. Our employees’ well-being and satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us and we strongly believe that their welfare and personal development are vital to be able to provide our guests with quality service. We promote inclusion and work to combat all forms of discrimination. We regularly implement training plans which are tailored to each individual role, enabling our employees to acquire new skills and improve their skills throughout their careers, particularly with regards to sustainable development.
We also actively encourage internal promotions and provide our talented and driven employees with career development opportunities. We recognise their potential and are committed to supporting their professional development.
We choose our suppliers and service providers on the basis of their sustainable and social principles. For example, our laundry supplier ABC Groupe is a local company at the forefront of developments in energy and waste reduction.
Saving water and energy
- Water savers/pressure reducers have been installed on taps and in showers.
- All our lighting is LED and motion detectors have been installed in the common areas.
- We are committed to the development of renewable energies (contract with a 100% green energy supplier).
- 90% of our breakfast products are seasonal and are sourced locally.
- Most of the products used for cleaning are recognised as being environmentally friendly.
- Bed linen and towels are changed at our guests’ request.
Limiting and recycling waste
We sort all our waste, including bio-waste, so that it can be recycled in a natural gas processing plant. Our guests can also sort their own waste, using their in-room bins.
We choose our products with a view to limiting unnecessary packaging and we send invoices by email.
We have a partnership with a local recycling centre and donate our old equipment/furniture to them or other charitable organisations.
We have banned plastic bottles and now provide glass bottles with filtered water instead.
Our bathrooms feature shampoo/shower gel dispensers to limit individual packaging.
Breakfast is served at guests’ tables to minimise the food waste caused by buffets and we are part of the TooGoodToGo network.
